EDN Recognizes Emerson Network Power in Annual Innovation Awards 3/4/2010 12:00:00 AM ...

Liebert MPX named a finalist in power supplies/systems category

EDN Innovation FinalistColumbus, Ohio (March 4, 2010) — Emerson Network Power, a business of Emerson (NYSE: EMR) and the global leader in enabling Business-Critical Continuity™, today announced that the Liebert MPX has been named a finalist in the power supplies/systems category in this year’s EDN Innovation Awards. Online voting will run through March 19 to determine winners in each category, with the results being announced at an awards ceremony April 26 in San Jose, Calif.

The Liebert MPX, an adaptive rack power distribution unit (PDU) recognized for its flexibility and control visibility to the receptacle level, was chosen from hundreds of nominations as one of four finalists in the power supplies/systems category. Features of the product include remote shut down of non-essential equipment during power outages to maximize backup power and availability, remote control and management of individual receptacles and/or groups of loads and devices, and the ability to predict overcurrent conditions before they become critical.

“Frequent equipment changes and additions in the data center make the flexibility and durability of the rack and power distribution units an even higher priority,” said Matt Kightlinger, director of solutions marketing for Emerson Network Power’s Liebert products in North America “With advanced capabilities like on-site configuration of power input and the ability to swap out receptacle modules as needs evolve, the Liebert MPX helps IT and data center managers to manage increasingly complex connected loads throughout their facilities.”

“We received an impressive number of submissions for our 2009 Innovation Awards program, indicating that innovation was alive and well despite the economically challenging year,” said Rick Nelson, EDN editor-in-chief. “In the power supplies/systems category, the Liebert MPX was one of the outstanding submissions our editors chose. And now, it’s up to the readers to determine which product in each category they find most compelling.”

Instituted in 1990, the Innovation Awards honor the people, products and technologies that have shaped the semiconductor industry over the past year. Through March 19, EDN’s worldwide audience of electronic engineers and engineering managers will use an online ballot to select the ultimate winners from among the finalists. EDN’s editorial staff also take part in determining the final winners. Visit EDN’s Web site to vote online.
